Ferrus is, in so many words, a socially incompetent person.

He naturally has a sort of air that puts people off, and beyond that, doesn't feel comfortable with most people around him. He worries about being a burden, or worse, wasting people's time. However, despite his social incompetence, Ferrus possesses two ineffable traits. First, his morality: Ferrus clings to what he believes is right or wrong, and though he's willing to lie about it, he refuses to not act - or fail to act - within the bounds of his morals. And second, his willpower: Ferrus powers through many things, and the only place his unique brand of willfulness breaks down is in his social skills.

Overall, Ferrus outside of social interaction is straightforward to the point of being near-suicidal... but, when pushed into interaction, he's prone to being a loner, timid, and often lets himself be bullied by others into doing things that don't wholly conflict with his morals. He's fine with being made to do work for others without cost, and often lets people who act superior to him walk all over him.

And, of course, in spite of his religious origins, he has trouble truly believing in the psychobabble of "machines having souls". He's really pretty reasonable... even considering his place in the priesthood.
